Properly store electric equipment
There’s plenty of equipment that becomes virtually useless until spring rolls around again; lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, etc. Keep the electric ones stored in a safe place and unplug their battery chargers. It’s possible to have too many things plugged in in the garage, as sometimes outlets can get buried by junk. Do a thorough sweep and unplug any unnecessary chargers, extension cords, or tools.
Call before you dig
It may be the best time of year to plant trees and shrubs, but call before you dig! If you’re breaking ground in your yard for any project, alert your city so they can send someone to mark the utilities under your property. Dial 811 at least 48 hours in advance and go from there. The last thing you need is accidentally cutting through a cable with a shovel.
